William M. Hyatt, Sculptor, is a 40 year resident of Duarte,
California, who grew up with a love for art. Starting with pencil sketching as a small
child, and advancing to charcoal and pastels at age 10. At that time in his life he
realized he liked to take a "traditional" theme and enhance it to almost an
abstract. When he entered his mid-teens he discovered photography. As a staff
photographer for his high school yearbook, he began working in his own darkroom,
developing and printing his own photos. Again he began working with different darkroom
techniques to develop more abstract images.
He attended the Art Center School of Design and Pasadena City College, were he learned
welding not so much as an outlet for his artwork, but to support his now growing family.
As time progressed and his family grew older, William once again started back at his
artwork, this time utilizing his welding background.
William's metal sculpters have developed into a great passion. His use of different
metals to create organic like material is only the tip of what's inside his mind.
William welcomes commissioned work, and would enjoy discussing any of his work or
images you may have.
